Memories of the unique opera singer Sonia Červená
Soňa Červená - a unique artist not only in the Czech Republic, but also worldwide, described her fate in her autobiographical diptych Sýskání zakázáno and Stýskání zažehnáno. Her path has covered the smallest places in her homeland and the greatest distances on five continents. She has appeared in 113 operatic roles, plus dramas, stage experiments, films and melodramas, many created just for her. She has received countless awards for her creative work. Soňa Červená personally and unrepeatably reads from her book Sadness Banished and leaves behind another lasting trace.
Soňa Červená embodies a unique interplay of unexpected connections in the Czech and international artistic sky: is equally at home in drama and musical theatre as it is in musicals or operas of any period and style, transcending the boundaries of time and space as naturally as the boundaries of genre. She was famous for her keen interest in new works, often dedicated to her, as a writer and translator. She described her fate in her autobiography? in the Czech diptych The Longing Forbidden and The Longing Banned. By wedging her life's trajectory into the tragic twists and turns of the twentieth century, her trail is uniquely dramatic, all-consuming, extremely exhausting, and thus hardly comparable to any other.
Its path has covered the smallest places in the homeland and the greatest distances on five continents.
