The land of malice
The audiobook Krajina zloby (Land of Malice), written by Stanislav Dvořák, narrated by Martin Zahálka.
Autumn 1944 in the Protectorate city of Pilsen. A train dispatched by the Gestapo detaches from the Art Nouveau building of the main train station and silently glides into the night landscape. A carpenter in love, a failed boxer in the service of the Gestapo, and a one-eyed gatekeeper.
A story in which Gabčík and Kubiš dance at the Tivoli club in the Bory suburb, Vlasta Burian performs at the Elektra cinema, and in the hall of Pilsen's Peklo (Hell) building, the sweat of boxers mingles with the lascivious scent of prostitutes and the tobacco of pimps.
A story from a time when it was difficult to do the right thing. A gripping true noir novella!
