The Toymaker
From the author of the bestseller The Naturalist
Professor Theo Cray can't return to his university research due to the suspicions surrounding him after the death of his former student, and the scandalous speculation after her killer was killed. He tries to start a new life in a different field, but is drawn, almost against his will, into another unsolved case. The desperate father of a missing child, whom the authorities refuse to listen to and who has no support from anywhere, turns to Theo for help. The only clues are children's drawings and a slum urban legend about a being nicknamed the Toyman. To uncover what is behind the Toyman, Theo must put aside everything science tells him and venture into a world where dreams and nightmares carry the same weight as reality. And the deeper he delves into the case, the more apparent it becomes that there may be a far-reaching conspiracy behind it – and most likely more victims.
