The trial by fire
Audiobook Test by Fire from the action thriller series featuring the elite Sigma Force by James Rollins
When Commander Gray Pierce returns home on Christmas Eve, He's finding out, that his home had been ransacked, his pregnant girlfriend has disappeared and Kat is found lying on the kitchen floor, his best friend's wife, unconscious.
Without a single clue, that could be tracked, is his only hope, that he'll find the woman he loves and his unborn child, Cat, the only witness to the fact what happened. But Kat is in a semi-coma and can't speak - until a brilliant neurosurgeon suggests a radical procedure to "unlock" her mind long enough to answer a few questions.
Kat's words send Sigma Force on a frantic search for answers that involve secrets that go back to the Spanish Inquisition and one of the most reviled and bloodied books in human history: to the medieval text known as the Malleus Maleficarum, or Hammer of the Witches. Their discoveries from the deep past will reveal a terrifying truth in the present and a future hanging in the balance, forcing them to address the most fundamental question: What does it mean to have a soul?
