Crows

A chamber story by a successful Czech author that ends where darkness begins

"The crow does not feel fear. The crow does not feel joy."

Twelve-year-old Bára is on the verge of adolescence. Her artistic talent is evident, but also her lively and sometimes uncontrollable nature. With the onset of puberty, the conflict between her spontaneity and her mother's desire for an uncomplicated life deepens dramatically. Especially in contrast to her slightly older, submissive sister.

The more Bára wants to realise her nature, the harder her surroundings try to control these incomprehensible and out of the average needs. Her talent is noticed by a young art teacher nicknamed Frodo, who offers her sensitive support in her struggle with the demands of a family that hides some very dark places under a facade of outward respectability. But Bára is still losing her war in the trenches of misunderstanding. Her only allies are the crows nesting outside her windows in the park. Crows that represent the natural instinct that permeates animal and human life.

A world to which Bára is becoming increasingly connected. Will anyone offer her any real help? Is there any other way out?
