The author published two books in the Epocha publishing house with the word "Borderland" in their titles: The fight for the borderlands and We, the boys from the borderlands. It was not only the author's smaller one that was revealed, here a greater anchorage in places near the Czech-German border, but mostly his interest in people, events and correlations, that are (or were) inherent in the borderlands, characterized them and in turn were influenced by it. The book Murders in the Borderlands follows the two previous ones not thematically, but in its spatial determination. The selected criminal cases date from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of them could have taken place anywhere else, but behind others was the Czech-German border, that invisible but real line through the landscape and the territory connected to it.
The reader will appreciate the documentary photographs, both contemporary and contemporary, which complement and illustrate the text.
