Wolf Hunters

The adventures of Indian boy Wabi and his friend Rod in the rugged Canadian outback

It is a story that generations of readers have fondly remembered. The adventures of Wabi, an Indian boy, and his white friend Rod in the rugged Canadian countryside at the turn of the 19th century.

A search for ancient secrets amid forests, snowy plains, caves, abandoned log cabins and frozen lakes. Game hunting, Indian tribal rivalries and the smell of gunpowder during the gold rush. Far horizons, the smoke of campfires, comparison of Indian traditions and the achievements of modern civilization, love for all living creatures, a personal relationship with sled dogs, freedom of movement and immediate decision-making in a harsh, but in a beautiful setting.

James Oliver Curwood

James Oliver Curwood (12. June 1878 - August 13, 1927) was an American journalist, novelist, travel writer, and conservationist.

Although he did not finish high school, he was able to pass the entrance examination to study journalism at the University of Michigan in 1898. In 1900, he began publishing his first reports, short stories and short stories in the Detroit News-Tribune. By 1909, his work had already begun to earn him enough to make his first trip north to the Yukon River and Alaska, where he sought inspiration for his future work. He regularly repeated these journeys to the north and northwest of the American continent. At one time he also lived with the Eskimos for several months.

In his youth he was an avid hunter, but as he grew older he became more and more committed to conservation ideas, eventually being appointed to the Michigan State Conservation Commission.

In 1927, during one of his trips to Florida, he was bitten by an unknown poisonous animal (it could have been a spider), which caused him great health problems and complications. In addition to severe allergic reactions, there was also an infection and general sepsis, which eventually led to his untimely death at the age of only 49.
