The Captive

With her novel Captive, Sarah Rivens has broken into the world of literature, both in her native Algeria and in France and elsewhere in the world. This dark romance lives up to its name and will keep readers “captive” within its pages from beginning to end.

Twenty-two-year-old Ella Collins has been working as a captive for six years for a certain John, a pimp who uses the beautiful girl to make money. However, when John gets the opportunity to sell her to a new master, Ella finds herself in the service of the leader of the Scott mafia gang, Asher Scott.

Ella does not want to be his captive, Ash does not want to be her master, and yet they must work together. Never before would Ella have thought she would miss John. Never before would she have thought it possible to experience an even greater hell.

Who is Ash? And who is Ella? Was Ash really different, as Kiara keeps telling Ella over and over? How long will the “probation period” last? Will it ever end? Will Ella be able to see the real Ash, and Ash the real Ella? In a world of guns and drugs, can a feeling other than hatred be born?
