Commentaries on the Gallic War

Audiobook Commentaries on the Gallic War, written by Gaius Iulius Caesar, translated by Jan Kalivoda, read by Miroslav Táborský. Commentaries on the Gallic War is the most famous and, at the same time, the most significant work by the Roman general Gaius Iulius Caesar. In seven books written in the third person, he describes not only his campaigns and battles but also the nature and customs of the ancient Gauls, Germans, and others. The narrative begins in 58 BC and ends in 52 BC. The style of the work is very simple and plain, using a relatively small vocabulary, without unnecessary digressions or poetic embellishments. The reader has the opportunity to become acquainted not only with Caesar's military and political genius but also with the perfect organisation and high quality of the Roman army. GAIUS IULIUS CAESAR He was a Roman general and politician and one of the most powerful men in ancient history.
