Vanished Tracks, Vanished Stations
Railways brought us not only a revolution in the transport of people and goods, but also new architectural elements that reshaped the landscape. This book will introduce you to the history of Czech railways in a unique, narrative way – you will learn about defunct lines and picturesque little stations that have been lost forever, and of course, you will get to know the lines, railway junctions, and stations that replaced the original routes and buildings. Everything is accompanied by a wealth of unique historical photographs and clear maps of both the original and new railway routes. From the book's contents: *Cancelled Czech, Moravian, and Silesian local lines *The Prague railway junction *Stops that disappeared in the 20th century *Tunnels, realignments, and connecting lines *The Brno – Tišnov – Žďár nad Sázavou – Havlíčkův Brod line *Realignments connected with the electrification of lines and increasing line capacity in the post-war period *Line realignments in the Podkrušnohoří region *The North Bohemian Transversal line *Realignments on transit railway corridors
