The Sharp 55HP5265E TV displays content on a 55" QLED panel with a native 4K Ultra HD resolution. QLED technology uses quantum dots to reproduce a wide colour spectrum and vivid shades. The Google TV platform integrates films and series from various streaming apps into one main menu, where it provides personalised recommendations. To search for content or control the TV, you can use the integrated Google Assistant, which responds to voice commands. The picture is complemented by support for dynamic HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos surround sound.
The display is based on a QLED panel with a 139cm (55") screen size, which works with a 4K Ultra HD (3,840 × 2,160) resolution. The screen uses quantum dot technology to reproduce a wide range of colours. The panel's refresh rate is 50/60Hz, while the smoothness of faster motion is enhanced by Smooth Motion frame interpolation technology. The TV processes high dynamic range content in HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision formats. The Dolby Vision format works with dynamic metadata for each scene separately, optimising brightness and contrast in real time. In addition, an integrated upscaler converts lower-resolution content to a clarity approaching 4K.
The sound system, with a total power output of 24W, reproduces modern audio formats. The TV decodes Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital AC4 standards, providing wide compatibility across different broadcast sources. The key technology is Dolby Atmos, which treats sound as separate objects. This approach creates a three-dimensional sound field in which sound moves through the space above and around the viewer. The result is a soundscape that more accurately reproduces the direction and movement of sound within a scene. An HDMI port with eARC is present for connecting a soundbar.
The Google TV operating system unifies content from different apps onto a single, clear home screen. It searches services like Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and local apps like Skylink Live TV and Telly to provide personalised recommendations. Voice control via Google Assistant simplifies searching for films, launching apps or controlling smart home elements. Using the integrated Chromecast function, you can wirelessly stream content from your mobile phone or tablet directly to the TV screen. The system also supports HbbTV hybrid broadcasting.
The TV has a game mode for connecting game consoles. Activating it optimises image processing and reduces input lag, leading to a faster response to controller commands. The HDMI 2.1 connectors support the Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) feature. This feature automatically switches the TV to game mode as soon as it detects a signal from a compatible games console. This means the player doesn't have to make any manual adjustments and gets a smooth response for gaming in sharp 4K resolution.
A wide range of connectors is available for connecting external devices. There are four HDMI 2.1 ports that support connecting games consoles, Blu-ray players or soundbars. One of the HDMI ports also includes an eARC function for transmitting advanced audio formats. For playing media from external storage, two USB ports are provided. Internet and home network connections are provided by a LAN port and wireless Wi-Fi. A headphone output and a digital optical output are provided for headphones or older audio systems. Wireless devices, such as headphones or keyboards, can be connected via Bluetooth. There is also a CI+ slot for pay-TV decoding cards.
The TV's construction uses a frameless design that reduces the borders around the screen and focuses attention on the content being watched. The dimensions of the chassis itself are 1,226 × 713 × 84mm with a weight of 11kg, which makes it easy to place on furniture or mount on the wall. For wall mounting, the TV is compatible with the VESA standard with a mounting hole spacing of 400 × 300mm. This installation method contributes to a clean interior layout and saves space. A detachable stand for classic placement on a TV cabinet is included in the package.
The TV's operation in standard dynamic range (SDR) mode falls into energy class F, with a consumption of 73 kWh per 1,000 hours of operation. When watching high dynamic range (HDR) content, the energy class changes to G and consumption rises to 143 kWh per 1,000 hours. This difference is caused by the higher demands on the panel's brightness and contrast, which are necessary for the correct display of an HDR scene. In standby mode, the power consumption of 0.5W complies with current standards.
