The PRIME A520 series motherboards feature comprehensive cooling controls that are configurable via Fan Xpert software or through the UEFI BIOS. Each header can dynamically reference three thermal sensors, and Fan Xpert lets you map the temperature of supported ASUS graphics cards to optimise cooling for GPU and CPU-intensive tasks. A dedicated integrated circuit also protects each fan header from overheating and overcurrent, and each onboard header supports auto-detection of PWM or DC fans.

The Q-LED Core display produces light patterns via the power LED during the Power-On Self-Test (POST) that help with troubleshooting. A fast 4Hz (0.25s) flash indicates 'CPU not detected', a slow 1/2Hz (2s) flash indicates 'VGA not detected', a very slow 1/8Hz (8s) flash indicates 'boot device not detected', and a steady light means the installation is complete.
