The AXAGON PCEA-PSN internal PCI-Express card efficiently expands your desktop computer with one IEEE 1284 standard parallel port and two RS-232 serial ports. You install the card into a free PCI-Express 2.0 slot, and it is fully compatible with older PCIe 1.0a/1.1 versions and modern 2.1/3.0. The card is based on the proven ASIX AX99100 chipset, which manages communication and contributes to its wide compatibility. This RS-232 expansion card reliably connects older and specialised peripherals, including printers, plotters, hardware keys, CNC machines, or POS systems, to modern computers.

Flexible installation in any case
In addition to the standard bracket, the included low-profile brackets make it easy to install the controller in computer cases of various sizes. This means the card can be fitted into both standard ATX builds and compact Small Form Factor systems. Installing the card in low-profile cases therefore requires no additional accessories. You mechanically insert the controller into a 1-Lane x1 PCIe slot, but its design is also fully compatible with longer x4, x8, or x16 slots.
Performance and ports of the AXAGON PCEA-PSN controller
The controller offers two RS-232 serial ports with DB9 male connectors and one IEEE 1284 parallel port with a DB25 female connector. The serial ports support transfer speeds of up to 250 kBd and are compatible with UART 16C550 and its extended versions. Each port has its own 256-Byte FIFO buffer, which acts as a buffer and prevents data loss during temporary system overload.
Controller protection and compatibility
Integrated ESD protection protects the sensitive circuits of the card and the connected computer from damage by electrostatic discharge. This protection against electrostatic discharge meets the specifications of ±15KV Air Gap Discharge and ±8KV Contact Discharge. The standardised ports support the connection of a wide range of devices, from barcode readers and POS systems to industrial CNC machines, plotters, or EPROM programmers.
