The AXAGON PCEM2-1U controller connects an M.2 NVMe SSD to a desktop computer via the PCI-Express bus. This internal adapter uses a four-lane PCI-Express 3.0 interface, communicating at speeds of up to 8GB/s. Its design allows it to be fitted into an NGFF M-key slot, supporting both M-key and B+M key M.2 SSDs. Its compact dimensions make it suitable for installation in low-profile cases and especially in 1U rack servers with limited space. The adapter has no capacity limit for connected SSDs and supports standard sizes. An LED indicator shows connection and data transfer status.

The adapter uses a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface for bidirectional data transfer at speeds of up to 8GB/s. For connecting to the motherboard, it is compatible with longer PCIe x8 and x16 slots, which increases its versatility across different configurations. It supports both single-sided and double-sided M.2 NVMe SSDs. An important feature is the absence of any drive capacity limit imposed by the controller.
Heat dissipation and controller boot support
To maintain stable M.2 drive performance, the adapter uses a passive cooling system. Copper-plated vents and the included thermal pad effectively dissipate the heat generated during the drive's operation, thus preventing thermal throttling. The controller also supports booting the operating system directly from the connected SSD, which speeds up the entire system start-up and application response times.
