The AXAGON PCEM2-N controller is an internal adapter that adds support for modern, high-speed NVMe SSDs to a desktop PC without an integrated M.2 slot. The card installs directly into a free PCI-Express slot on the motherboard, bypassing the limitations of older interfaces and giving even older computer setups access to high transfer speeds. By connecting via the PCIe bus, the drive reaches its full performance potential without the bottlenecks typical of the SATA interface. The adapter fully supports booting from the connected drive, which significantly shortens operating system start-up and application loading times.

Adding an M.2 slot
The internal M.2 to PCIe adapter uses a direct connection to the PCI-Express bus, removing the data limits of older interfaces like SATA. It is compatible with PCIe 4.0, 3.0 and older bus versions, and uses a four-lane connection for data throughput. Installing it in any free x4, x8 or x16 slot does not affect the performance of other components and transfers data at the full speed supported by the NVMe SSD.
