The EF 16-35mm f/4.0 L IS USM professional wide-angle lens is primarily designed for Canon EOS full frame DSLR cameras. Of course, it can also be used on Canon models with APS-C sensor, but you need to recalculate the focal length to about 26-56 mm. Use ultrasonic autofocusing from as close as 28cm from the subject. Self focusing is very fast and quiet at the same time. Thanks to the f/4 aperture over the entire focal length range, you don't need to change shutter speed or ISO sensitivity when zooming. The 9-blade aperture ensures a fine blur on the background, while the optical image stabilisation helps to ensure perfect sharpness in low light.

The EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM delivers stable shots in all situations, especially when shooting handheld in low light or in Macro mode. The lens has Canon's built-in 4EV image stabilizer, automatically detects normal shooting or motion tracking and switches to the optimal IS mode for the situation.
Ultrasonic focusing
The ring ultrasonic motor drives the autofocus extremely quickly and almost silently. Flawless stopping response ensures precise focus without overfocusing. Fully manual sharpening allows you to fine-tune the focus without leaving AF mode.
Subtle background blur
The 9-blade circular aperture gives out-of-focus areas a softer, more even appearance, so foreground subjects stand out sharply against a beautiful softly blurred background.
Excellent image quality
The design of the EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM incorporates three aspherical elements to ensure sharpness and clarity of the entire image across the focal length range. Two UD (Ultra Low Dispersion) elements virtually eliminate colour aberrations. The Super Spectra coating ensures accurate colour balance and enhances contrast. It also reduces the appearance of veils and flare - a common problem caused by reflected light from the camera sensor. The fluorine coating prevents dust and water droplets from adhering to the front and rear elements of the lens, helping to ensure optimum image quality.
