The 3D printer is a device that can "print" a completely new three-dimensional model according to a digital 3D model or an existing template. In their early days, the 3D printers were very expensive. However, they are so perfected by the manufacturers that they are accessible to all of us.
Continue
The use of 3D printers today is relatively large. In medicine their usage has been quite common. Products such as. Prostheses, aids or light splints. We also find objects from 3D printers in the automotive and aerospace industries. Without 3D printers progress would be slower for scientists and educational institutions. Thanks to constant development, improvement and affordability, we can also print various items, accessories and components at home.
Printers are divided according to the printing technology used, the size of the working surface, the material used, the precision and the fineness of the printing.
3D printing technology
FDM - Fused Deposition Modeling - the device forms one layer at a time by melting a material (plastic or metal) in the form of fibers that extrudes through the extrusion nozzle positioned on the printhead.
SLA - Stereolithography uses an ultraviolet beam to create the object, which draws the layer onto the surface of the polymer resin. Compared to the FDM, this method is more accurate and more expensive.
Materials
For 3D printers using FDM technology the materials primarily used are ABS, PLA, PET or PVA supplied in the form of strings (threads). Plastics of different colors and characteristics, which are very strong and stable.
Technology SLA employs polymeric resins that are suitable for the creation of objects with intensive detail and accuracy.
Types of 3D printers
3D pen - it is the most affordable option of 3D equipment. They operate on the principle of melting materials (ABS, PLA, PVA etc.) and works similarly to the classic pen.
Finished 3D printers - just connect to your computer and print.
Designers 3D printers - includes full equipment, tools and materials. They are intended mainly for enthusiasts.
3D printer with scanner and copier - Besides the standard features the multifunction 3D printers are fitted with a copier and scanner - the device can scan or copy the inserted object. This item will be transferred to the digital form and you can change it as desired and print it again.
