The CyberPower PR3000ERT2U backup power has the Line interactive design approach. Off-line is classified as the most basic form when power fails because it switches to the internal battery for electric power. The line interactive UPS also adds power protection to guard against dangerous surges travelling along data lines.

The most important parameter is how long the UPS will function when the electricity is off. This is governed by the energy consumption – for example, at half-load (50%), the UPS power time lasts much longer. The load of the backup source governs the operating time, which at full load (100%) is 1,4 min and at half-load, it's 6,3 min. It is therefore crucial to estimate the power consumption of the connected computers, monitors and other electronics and it is best to add some spare power left. The CyberPower PR3000ERT2U specifies the apparent power as 3000, but with realistic use, the actual power usage is 3000 W.
