Febichol belongs to a group of drugs intended for the treatment of biliary tract diseases. It acts by increasing the secretion of bile. Febichol is used by adults and adolescents over 15 years of age to treat digestive disorders in chronic liver and biliary tract diseases and conditions following surgical removal of the gallbladder or after inflammation of the liver (hepatitis). The active substance of Febichol is fenipentol, which, when absorbed, increases the excretion of bile from the liver into the small intestine, and thereby eliminate or relieve digestive discomfort caused by bile secretion disorders (such as feelings of pain or pressure in the right lower leg, burping, bloating, diarrhea, dislike and intolerance of some, especially fatty or meaty foods). If you do not feel better within 14 days or if you feel worse, you must consult a doctor.
Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age usually take 2 capsules of Febichol 3 times a day (always just before meals), patients with less severe complaints may take Febichol only occasionally, as needed (2 capsules just before meals). The capsules are swallowed whole, unchewed (the contents have a strong burning, bitter taste! ) and washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid (e.g. glass of water). One pack contains 50 soft gelatin capsules.
