FiiO KA17 black

FiiO KA17 black
The FiiO KA17 headphone amplifier offers a special desktop mode, activated by a dedicated D.Mode switch. When desktop mode is on, the KA17 automatically adjusts the DAC, amplifier power supply and amplifier output power to unleash their full potential with higher output power. With sufficient USB power input and desktop mode enabled, the KA17's four THX headphone amplifiers work in parallel for higher current and total power output. The result is an output power of up to 270mW+270mW for single-ended output and up to 650mW+650mW for balanced output. The model uses chips with higher performance, lower power consumption and less digital noise.

Sound settings
The XMOS XU316 chip has enabled FIIO engineers to develop a precise, adjustable PEQ with 10 customisable frequency bands. FIIO's proprietary PEQ algorithm, app page and website let you fine-tune the frequency, gain and bandwidth of each PEQ band, so you can set the sound exactly how you want it. PEQ adjustment is supported in formats up to PCM 192kHz/24bit; PEQ is not currently supported in UAC1.0 mode. The 3.5mm headphone jack also supports SPDIF output, which allows connection to external high-end DACs for even more flexibility and better sound quality.
*SPDIF output supports 96kHz/32bit
16-core XMOS XU316
The USB ports in the KA17 are handled by the 16-core XMOS XU316, which is rarely found in audio adaptors. This chip features lower latency, more stable signal transmission and better compatibility than commonly used USB controller chips. Paired with dual crystal oscillators, the KA17 is more than capable of handling various digital audio sources with different sampling rates. The digital and analogue parts of the audio circuit in the KA17 are located on completely separate PCBs, with each board equipped with a shielding cover for complete isolation. This ensures that the digital and analogue parts of the audio circuit do not interfere with each other, enabling precise processing of audio signals.
Compact and elegant
The THX AAA 78 headphone amplifier has proven itself in mid to high-end players like the M11 Pro and M11 Plus. In the KA17 headphone amplifier model, an improved THX AA 78+ is available. Inside the KA17 are THX AAA 78+ headphone amplifiers with 8 op-amps working in parallel in a fully balanced 4-channel configuration, which not only allows for higher power output but also a more detailed and realistic sound. With precise digital audio signal processing thanks to dual crystal clock oscillators and a high-performance DAC converted to analogue signals output from a robust analogue section consisting of an LPF voltage amplifier, BUF current extension, and headphone amplifiers working in parallel, you can be sure the KA17 can reproduce the details and dynamics of your music.
Three-stage power system
Inside the KA17 headphone amplifier is a three-stage power supply with three main rails. The three main stages of the power supply consist of a first stage of filtering + overvoltage protection, a second stage of DC-DC boost conversion, and a third stage of LDO voltage regulation. Power filtering applies to each of the three main power rails, one for the digital, digital-to-analogue and analogue signal parts of the audio circuit. The power supply circuit is divided into ten smaller rails. The power supply in the KA17 uses many of the same principles as desktop headphone amplifiers, providing a robust foundation for the KA17's excellent sound.
Intuitive control and carefree listening
The FiiO KA17 headphone amplifier uses a 0.91-inch dot-matrix display that intuitively shows various functions. In combination with the physical buttons, you can easily adjust various settings such as screen orientation, filters, or the display-off timer. The KA17 has built-in temperature monitoring and DC output systems to ensure that neither the unit itself nor the connected headphones are damaged under abnormal conditions. You can also set a maximum volume level to prevent accidental hearing damage. Two volume control curves for high and low gain ensure a better listening experience with headphones of different impedances. 60-step and 120-step volume adjustments are available for finer or faster tuning. With the MagClip, you can easily enjoy Hi-Fi on the go.
Independent power supply
The KA17 is equipped with two USB Type-C ports. One is the typical port used for connecting to other devices like phones, tablets, and computers. The orange port on the side is for use with an external power source. When an external power source is connected to this port, the KA17 can achieve higher output power and better performance without draining the battery of your phone or other connected device.
Button modes
Choose any button mode that better suits your personal habits and supports functions such as volume adjustment, play/pause, previous/next track, etc. Mode A – single press the Volume+ button to increase the volume by 1 level, and long press to increase it continuously. In the settings menu, press the button to move down or scroll through options. The Volume- button works in the opposite way. Mode B – single press the Volume+ button to increase the volume by 1 level, and long press to switch to the previous track. In the settings menu, press the button to move down or scroll through options. The Volume- button works in the opposite way. Mode C – single press the Volume+ button to switch to the previous track, and long press to continuously increase the volume. In the settings menu, press the button to move down or scroll through options. The Volume- button works in the opposite way.
