Fluidex® 20 Eff. tbl.

A food supplement with minerals and glucose for preparing an oral rehydration solution. The solution created by dissolving one tablet in 150ml of drinking water is hypotonic (228 mmol/L), so there is no risk of overdosing. The product contains 60 mmol/L of sodium (Na+). Fluidex ® tablets do not contain any flavourings, colourings, artificial sweeteners or other flavour enhancers. We lose body water naturally through urine, sweat and breathing. When water output exceeds its intake, the body's water content decreases, and it enters a negative water balance. This water deficit is accompanied by a loss of salts from the body. Sometimes, there is first an increased loss of salts, followed by water. Insufficient water intake is common, for example, in elderly people who have a reduced sense of thirst, in immobile patients, and in children. If there is excessive water loss from various causes, it is necessary to supply the body with the lost water along with inorganic salts. Since water molecules pass freely into and out of cells, water alone could not be retained in our body without help. Inorganic salts break down in an aqueous solution into positively charged cations and negatively charged anions. They do not remain alone but immediately surround themselves with water molecules, thus binding the water. These ions, unlike water, have considerable difficulty passing through the barriers in our body and are forced to use special transport systems. Due to this difference, if we manage to get enough ions into the body and then water, the supplied water is bound in the body and we do not lose it. Since sodium makes up 90% of all cations in the blood and extracellular space, it is the most important element that retains the most water in the body by surrounding itself with its molecules. Sodium is most easily absorbed along with glucose. Adding glucose to the solution therefore increases the absorption of sodium, and consequently, the absorbed water will not leave the body.

Ingredients

Active substance, content in one tablet: Sodium Chloride 212.10mg, Potassium Chloride 225.00mg, Sodium Bicarbonate 375.00mg, Citric Acid 594.50mg, Glucose 2264.00mg anhydrous glucose, acidity regulators: citric acid, sodium bicarbonate; potassium chloride, sodium chloride, carrier: polyethylene glycol.

Dosage and Packaging

For adults, the dose is 150–300ml of the solution (1 effervescent tablet per 150ml of drinking water, or 2 effervescent tablets per 300ml of drinking water) in cases of increased fluid loss from the body. For children from three years of age, use half the amount, exclusively under the supervision of a doctor. Pack contains 20 effervescent tablets.

Warning

One effervescent tablet contains 2.3g of glucose (approximately the weight of 1 sugar cube). The unfinished solution can be stored in the refrigerator (approx. +4°C) for one day. The drink must not be used as a substitute for normal fluid intake.
