The Inter-Tech IPC 2U-20240 computer case is the foundation for building 2U server systems and offers ample space for data storage. Mounting it in rack cabinets makes efficient use of the designated height for securely storing hardware. The design supports the installation of various motherboard form factors with a maximum installation depth of 191mm, which requires careful selection of compatible components. The chassis makes efficient use of internal space and provides plenty of room for extensive disk arrays and component cooling. When assembling the system, you must consider the specific requirements for a 1U power supply and a maximum CPU cooler height of 65mm.
The main structural element of the chassis is 1.0mm to 1.2mm thick steel, which gives the system rigidity and stability. This material specification protects the internal components from mechanical damage and minimises vibrations from hard drives or fans. The front panel features controls including a power switch, reset button, and a set of LEDs to indicate hard drive activity, network status, or error conditions.
The internal layout emphasises high storage capacity, with up to eight internal 3.5" hard drives occupying the designated bays. The system also integrates three 2.5" drives and utilises four external 5.25" bays on the front for optical drives or removable caddies. The rear of the case contains seven low-profile slots for expansion cards, and the maximum graphics card length cannot exceed 191mm.
Hot air is exhausted from the case by a pair of pre-installed 80mm fans located at the front behind the intake vents. This solution creates airflow across the hard drives towards the motherboard and the 1U power supply. Two USB 3.0 ports on the front panel enable quick connection of peripherals or external media, simplifying service and system management.
