What's that coming over the hill? Is it an iPhone? Yes, it's a new iPhone. Tim Cook has finally set the iPhone 13 mini loose, so let's see what it has to shout about. For a start, there's a six-core Apple A15 Bionic chip. Then there's a 20% smaller notch that still manages to incorporate cutting-edge Face ID technology. And the camera system benefits from a complete overhaul while remaining at 12Mpx. As we've come to expect from iPhone launches, there are enhancements and new features everywhere you look. Apple iPhone 13 mini also comes with extended night mode support and a filmmaker mode, which automatically adds a depth of field effect to your videos. Support for the popular MagSafe accessories goes without saying.
The new iPhone 13 mini features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display that offers an ultra-fine 2340x1080p resolution with 476 pixels per inch. Key benefits include HDR 10 and Dolby Vision support, a maximum brightness of 800 nits (which increases to 1200 in HDR) and a stunning 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Your new iPhone 13 mini is kept safe and damage-free by the toughest glass of the Ceramic Shield front cover.
When you look at the spectacular quality of previous iPhone cameras, you will wonder how Apple has managed to improve on near-perfection. Here's how they did it. The all-new wide-angle camera has a larger sensor with 1.7µm pixels. This produces less noise and faster shutter speeds for supreme-quality images in all lighting conditions. Combined with the f/1.6 aperture, iPhone 13 mini's new Ultra Wide camera offers a huge improvement in low-light situations—up to 2.2x compared to iPhone 12 Pro and nearly 1.5x compared to iPhone 12 Pro Max. Sensor-shift optical image stabilisation(OIS)stabilises the sensor instead of the lens, so images are smooth and video is stable even when you are moving. The Ultra Wide camera also has a 120-degree field of view for you to play with.
Apple iPhone 13 mini can now shoot videos with depth of field and refocus between key subjects completely automatically. A special filmmaking mode identifies the most important things in your shot. It's an incredibly intensive computing task, but the powerful Apple A15 Bionic chip barely works up a sweat. HDR video recording with Dolby Vision is possible at 60fps in 4K resolution.
The magnet system on the back of iPhone 13 mini enables super features, including MagSafe wireless charging at speeds of up to 15W
As you would expect, iPhone 13 mini comes with built-in support for 5G mobile networks and more 5G bands allow it to work in more places. Apple uses its own low-power chip, so the technology is completely under your control. Smart Data Mode saves your battery by automatically switching networks when you don't need 5G speeds.
Apple iPhone 13 mini is the ultimately secure smartphone with accurate facial recognition using Face ID technology. The next layer of security on iPhone 13 mini is the iOS 15 operating system featuring a wealth of security enhancements.
Apple's A15 Bionic is the fastest chip used in any smartphone. Manufactured with 5nm technology consisting of 2 powerful and 4 efficient computing cores, A15 Bionic boasts a significantly stronger neural engine with 5-core graphics that are up to 50% more powerful than any competing chip.
Founded in 1976 in Cupertino, California, Apple has since become the most valuable company in the world with its revolutionary products and peerless design. Probably its most ubiquitous and well-known product is the iPhone, along with the iPad, Mac computers, and iTunes.
