JVC MX-E455S
The JVC MX-E455S mini system plays sound from radio broadcasts, CDs, USB drives and wireless sources. With a total output of 100W RMS (2× 50W), the audio system uses two-way speakers with bass reflex. The design features a wooden cabinet with rounded edges, a black finish, and a silver aluminium front panel. Users can access thousands of stations via internet radio, a DAB+ and an FM tuner with RDS support. The system received an independent 'Excellent' (1.3) rating in CHIP magazine's test and an 'Outstanding' rating from Stereo&Video magazine.

Reception options
Signal reception is handled by both classic FM and modern digital DAB+ broadcasts. The FM reception frequencies range from 87.5 to 108MHz, and the digital DAB frequencies from 174.9 to 239.2MHz. When connected to a Wi-Fi network, the device also provides access to internet radio stations from around the world. You can save presets for quick access to your favourite stations, with a capacity of 40 presets for FM, 40 for DAB+, and 20 for internet stations. The system includes an RDS tuner for FM broadcasting and a DRC (Dynamic Range Compression) function for DAB.
Wireless streaming and Spotify Connect
The integrated Spotify Connect technology provides direct playback of music libraries and podcasts from the cloud. In this mode, your mobile phone acts only as a remote control, which saves its battery. Wi-Fi is used for wireless network connection, operating on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Bluetooth 5.2 is used for quick pairing with a tablet or smartphone, where it appears in the system as MX-E455.
Traditional media and CD player
The built-in drive supports CD, CD-R and rewritable CD-RW discs. In addition to standard music media, it also plays MP3 files continuously, randomly or on repeat. The USB port on the rear panel reads flash drives with a capacity of up to 32GB. You can also play MP3 tracks by individual folders, and the programme memory holds up to 20 tracks for standard CDs and 99 for MP3 files.
Sound performance and speakers
Two passive two-way speakers with bass reflex ports on the back wall deliver a total power of 100W, which is 2× 50W RMS. The woofer uses a yellow fibreglass cone and the tweeter a soft textile dome. Screw terminals on the back provide a solid mechanical connection for the 180cm cables. After removing the plugs, you can also use standard banana plugs. Users can adjust the sound with the equaliser's five presets or the X-Bass boost function.
Connectivity and connections
The rear panel includes an analogue AUX cinch input for connecting external devices and an optical Toslink input for sound from a TV. To enhance the bass component, there is a SUB Out for an active subwoofer and a coaxial S/PDIF digital audio output for connecting to a receiver. A 3.5mm jack headphone output on the front is available for private listening. The mains power supply requires 130W in operation and 2W in standby mode.
Controls and additional features
The 4.3" colour LCD screen displays the time, date, MP3 track information and images. The system, which has a full English menu, can be controlled with the included remote control featuring a numeric keypad, or via the UNDOK and OKTIV mobile apps over your home Wi-Fi network. Practical features also include an alarm with two wake-up times and a sleep mode. The device automatically switches off after more than 15 minutes of inactivity.
