What causes tooth sensitivity?
Receding gums and damaged tooth enamel can expose thousands of microscopic channels in the neck of the tooth, which lead to the tooth's nerve. When your teeth come into contact with something hot, cold or sweet, these sensations are transmitted directly to the tooth's nerve via these channels, causing pain. Exposed tooth necks can also be prone to discolouration. For optimal regular oral care, first use interdental cleaning products, then elmex® Sensitive Professional toothpaste with an elmex® Sensitive toothbrush, and finally elmex® Sensitive Professional mouthwash.
