A dream novel

Eroticism, fantasy, illusion... and awakening

RECOMMENDED AGE 18+

The story of a seemingly harmonious marriage, which is being eroded by uncontrollable erotic desires and fantasies, was written by an Austrian writer, physician and psychologist in 1925. Influenced by the atmosphere of the 1920s, when the "old world" was finally leaving, and his knowledge of suggestion and hypnosis, he delved into the depths of the human psyche in his works, controlled by two forces - the erotic drive and the death drive.

The story of the doctor Fridolin and his wife Albertina is on the border between dream and reality. Fridolin's journey through the permeable border of dreaming and living is above all a journey into the depths of his own soul. The magic of Schnitzler's imagination captivated the American director Stanley Kubrick, who made a film based on the novel, Eyes Wide Shut, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
