Basiková Bára: Tears - CD

Basiková Bára: Tears - CD
Bára Basiková's 2018 studio album reflects her fondness for the music of the 1980s, particularly the work of Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, David Bowie, and The Cure. It features songs about love, passion, disappointment, breakups, manipulation, loneliness, finding one's path in life, and appreciating the beauty of this world.
The songs were written by Richard Ulrych (Nebezpečné známosti) and Luděk Fiala (Decline, p. m. band), who also produced the album. One song's lyrics were written by Petr Muk's long-time collaborator Jan Dvořák, and the lyrics for three other tracks were penned by Meda Věžniková. The album cover features a photograph of Basiková by Ida Saudková.
Bára Basiková is one of the most distinctive Czech singers. Over her career, she has performed songs in a wide variety of genres, moving from new wave to pop, as well as unique projects involving esoteric songs, Yiddish compositions, and church music, right through to musicals. Her vocals have influenced the sound of the bands Stromboli and Precedens.
