Between two Kims
Between the two Kims or studying in the DPRK
Few people manage to stay in North Korea without having an omnipresent guide by their side and being under constant surveillance. Koreanist Nina Špitálníková has managed to do this twice in her life. She was one of the few in the world to participate in study visits to Kim Il-sung University during the reigns of the last two leaders, Kim Jong-il and Kim Jong-un.
What was it like studying in one of the harshest dictatorial regimes in the world? What does the immediate North Korean reality look like? How has the regime changed in the few months since Kim Jong-un took power?
In the text, the author tries to find answers to these and many other related questions and, based on personal experience, provides insight into a segment of North Korean life.
