Ceremony
Temperamental policewoman on the trail of chilling ritual murders
Meet Elena Blanc - by day a police inspector haunted by her past, by night a femme fatale with a weakness for grappa and karaoke. He and his team must solve the unprecedentedly brutal murder of a woman who was about to get married. A similar ritual crime occurred seven years ago, but the perpetrator is still serving his sentence. So there are two options: either he has a follower or an innocent man is imprisoned. Things are starting to boil over in fear-ridden Madrid, and Elena is in for more than one hot moment.
Carmen Mola
Carmen Mola is a Spanish author of detective novels. In 2018, her debut The Ceremony (La novia gitana), starring the police commissioner Elena Blanc, attracted huge interest, followed by the equally successful second part The Purple Net (La red púrpura). After the third installment in the series, Year of the Pig (La Nena), a stand-alone thriller called La Bestia (The Beast) was released, which immediately tore up the bestseller lists. When in 2021 he won the literary prize in the Premio Planeta competition with a large financial reward, the real authors decided to reveal their identity: behind the pseudonym Carmen Mola is a trio of writers and screenwriters Jorge Díaz, Agustín Martínez and Antonio Mercero.
