Chest of Time

Time is never enough, but trying to fool him doesn't pay off.

Once upon a time there was a princess called Raven, whose father, a powerful king, laid the whole world at his beloved daughter's feet. And because he couldn't bear the thought of the fair maiden growing old like a mere mortal, he had her locked up in a magic chest where time could not reach her. When similar devices one day appear in the modern world, which is in the throes of a major crisis, people are putting themselves to sleep in droves with the vision of waking up one day to a new, better future. However, as a handful of awakened children find out many years later, all the inhabitants of Earth have decided to leave the worries to others, and human civilization is in danger of ultimate extinction. That's when they meet an old woman named Lilian and hear her tell them the story of the Raven and the time chest, which she says will help them save the world.

The award-winning book for young readers by the well-known Icelandic writer and activist was several years ahead of the Fridays for Future movement.
