Dead at St. Anne's

Audiobook Dead at St. Anne's, by J. R. Ellis, translation by Michael Havlen. Read by Filip Jančík, directed by Ondřej Černý. Yorkshire Murders #7 IN THE DEPTHS OF A FREEZING YORKSHIRE WINTER, THE REVEREND IS FOUND BLUDGEONED TO DEATH... Popular vicar Clare Wilcox is beaten to death in St Anne's Church in Knaresborough. No murder weapon is found at the scene and rumours spread among the superstitious locals about a medieval monk whose ghost is said to have haunted the church since time immemorial. But Detective Jim Oldroyd doesn't believe in ghosts. Together with colleague Andy Carter, they follow the trail that may lead them to the real killer. But it's like everything is conspiring against them. They fail to discover how Clare was murdered, and a blizzard traps them in St Anne's. Could this be the work of supernatural forces after all? Are Oldroyd and Carter in the middle of a ghost story, or is there a flesh-and-blood killer hiding behind the church walls? Phantom or not, solving the case soon turns into an obsession for Oldroyd... A classic English mystery in the style of books by modern masters of the genre such as Ann Granger, Caroline Graham and Louise Penny. J. R. ELLIS J. R. Ellis came from a working-class family, but that didn't stop him from going to Oxford University and becoming a teacher. He has always been interested in mysteries, the supernatural and unsolved crimes, and during his cantorial years he wrote children's plays and ghost stories. However, he did not begin to devote himself fully to his work until his retirement. His Murder in Yorkshire series is intrinsically linked to the county where Ellis lives. He was inspired by the mystery novels of Agatha Christie and John Dickson Carr, in the style of the locked room mysteries, or the Jonathan Creek series. He believes that for detective novels it is not only important who committed the crime, but also how they did it. Although he writes about murder, he avoids overly brutal scenes, preferring to emphasize a light style, elements of humor, and a well thought-out plot.   FILIP JANČÍK He started out as an actor but decided to pursue dubbing full time. That's why we can only see him in a few movies or TV shows. As a young actor, he starred in films such as The Riddle of the Puzzle and Vekslák or the Old Golden Times. Filip Jančík's voice, on the other hand, can be noticed immediately, for example on the TV station Prima Cool or in an impressive number of Hollywood films and series.
