Agatha Christie's famous detective story with Hercule Poirot Death on the Nile
Linnet Ridgeway has everything a woman could want. She is young and charming, wealthy, famous and also used to getting what she wants. When her best friend Jacqueline de Bellefort asks her to employ a young man, Simon Doyle, with whom she has fallen madly in love and wants to marry, the owner of a vast estate generously obliges. However, things take a turn and soon the charming Linnet becomes Mrs Doyle.
The newlyweds go on their honeymoon to Egypt, where the detective Hercule Poirot, who knows this English celebrity as well as the rest of the touring party, is spending his holiday. The observant Belgian also recalls what came to his mind during his first London meeting with Simon and his former lover, who joined them on their Nile cruise, much to the chagrin of the young gentleman and his wife. One evening, a jealous scene on the luxury liner Karnak leads to Simon being shot. The accident is overshadowed by an even greater tragedy first thing in the morning: which passenger is responsible for Mrs. Doyle's death? And where did her pearl necklace go?
After adaptations with Peter Ustinov and David Suchet, the film directed by Kenneth Branagh will enter cinemas in autumn 2020. For the second time (Murder on the Orient Express, 2017), he will also play the role of a reputable detective.
