Deczi Laco & Cellula Quintet: Pietoso - CD

When Laco Deczi recorded his first album with his own group Cellula Quintet, he was thirty years old and had a rich collaboration with the Czechoslovak top jazz. The recording from November 1968 is released on CD for the first time in 40 years, and time has not taken away from it. Slow songs dominate, in addition to our own titles, we can also find several jazz evergreens here. Publicist Ludvík Šereda then wrote in the review: “Laco Deczi plays in a warm, nice tone, with a sense of dynamism and plays with the melodies of his own songs or famous evergreens with the ease of an experienced jazzman. His improvisation testifies to the experience of played compositions and solo maturity. He is definitely the dominant figure of the quintet. The solos of pianist Karel Růžička are also a pleasure, as well as his sensitive accompaniment to the improvisations of other musicians. ”
