Deczi Laco: Sentimental Trumpet / Jazz Cellula (2x CD) - CD

1. SENTIMENTAL TUBE
Laco Deczi, a native of Bernolákov, is one of the most prominent figures in Czechoslovak jazz. His unique trumpet playing can be heard on several dozen albums created over the past almost half a century. Two of them are also in the catalog of Opus, while the album Sentimentálná trúbka is one of the first albums in the history of this music label.

It has the serial number 21 and in accordance with the name it brings a remarkable mixture of melodic and melancholic compositions not only from deczim-loved patterns (E. Garner, H. Carmichael, V. Young), but also from Slovak composers (L. Štassel, I. Horváth, P. Zelenay). Two songs were delivered by jazz colleague Laco Gerhardt and the album also includes two of his own compositions.

2. JAZZ CELLULA
Jazz Cellula was, is and will be a “trademark“ of Lac Deczi, eventually founding his first jazz band under this name in the 60' s. The album of the same name was created in the legendary Opus studios in the summer of 1977, and the term supergroup can be used for her line-up at the time. After all, all its members were also soloists in the then existing Jazz Orchestra of Czechoslovak Radio (JOČR) with: Karel Růžička (piano), Petr Král (tenor saxophone), Josef Vejvoda (drums), Zdeněk Dvořák (guitar), Svatopluk Košvanec (trombone), Petr Kořínek (bass guitar), Jiří Tomek (percussion). Jazz Cellula is rightly ranked among the most important albums in the history of Czechoslovak jazz.
