A great textbook on the basics of Excel programming from a long-time lecturer and translator. The author first tells you what a macro is and in what situations it will become your indispensable helper, and teaches you how to record macros using a recorder. You will then become familiar with the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor environment and learn the parts that make up program code. In the following chapters, you will learn how to work with the Excel development environment and VBA, with the main emphasis on practicing the necessary activities and working with the object model. After mastering the basic concepts of Excel programming, you will learn what VBA objects are, their properties and methods. The author will introduce some very frequently used commands and constructs and you will practice the technique of writing code with practical examples. Since you will be working with cells very often, one whole chapter is devoted to working with the Range object (cell area). Similarly, other chapters deal with the frequent objects Workbook, Worksheet and Application. The conclusion is a brief introduction to the problem of error handling in macros - the author discusses mainly the basic problems related to error handlers, which can be used to solve errors that occur during the program runtime. The explanation is accompanied by a large number of concise code examples.
