Gladiator - Blu-ray

Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) has once again led his legions to victory on the battlefield. The war is won, and Maximus dreams of home. He wants nothing more than to return to his wife and son. However, the dying emperor, Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris), has one last task for him. He asks the general to take power.
Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the heir to the throne, is jealous of the emperor's favour towards Maximus and orders the execution of Maximus and his family. Maximus narrowly escapes death, but severely wounded, he is "saved" by slave traders. He is taken to a gladiatorial school, and his fame in the arena grows day by day.
He now comes to Rome to avenge the murder of his wife and son and to kill the new emperor, Commodus. He has learned that the only power stronger than the emperor's is the will of the people. The path to fulfilling Maximus's revenge is to become the greatest hero in the entire empire.
