Rügen has always been ruled by the priests of Arkona. However, the lust for the sanctuary's treasures has brought foreign cutthroats to the island. Their longships with dragon skulls emerged from the northern mists, from a realm hidden from the eyes of mortals. They attacked, filling the coastal waters with the bodies of Rügen's defenders, and occupied the island.
For now, Arkona holds out. But the spells that protect it are weakening. Meanwhile, the foreigners are extending their reign of terror – they have already conquered Wolgast and almost seized the shield of the god Jarovit; in Stettin they have desecrated Triglav's sanctuary, and now they are baring their fangs towards the majestic Wolin. The Slavic priests and rulers are crying out for help. From the far south, down the Oder river basin, comes the lord of Radhost's sword and his demonic wolf guide.
Many years after writing the Warlock cycle, Juraj Červenák returns to his most popular heroes, Black Rogan and Goryvlad. In the two-part novel, The Gold of Arkona, their journey takes them north, to the amber shores where the Slavic gods face bloodthirsty conquerors. Will the warlock be able to cope in lands so far from Boar Mountain and the Bloody Fire, the sources of his power?
