Shortly after the release of the album Humanz, the most famous virtual band in the universe is back with another new album. The record was produced in February 2018 by the duo of James Ford and Remi Kabaka, and the list of guest artists is not nearly as extensive as on Humanz. It is available on CD, LP, and a Deluxe LP Boxset, which, in addition to the 12" vinyl, also includes bonus visual material, six badges, and a digital download card.
Behind the animated foursome of Gorillaz are singer Damon Albarn and comic book illustrator Jamie Hewlett. The group was created in 1998, and its members are the cartoon characters 2D (vocals and keyboards), Murdoc (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboards), and Russel (drums and percussion). Each character has their own virtual history; the two creators have built a complete world for the band. Their 2001 eponymous debut sold over 7 million copies and was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize. Gorillaz later won a Grammy and other awards.
