In the clutches of magic
Zoey is a banshee, a fairy of death, and she must come to terms with this fact
Zoey King is a seventeen-year-old girl from a respected family with roots in the Tuatha Dé Danann. The Danann are an ancient people whose members have always been gifted with magical abilities. Everyone expects Zoey to inherit her mother's magical healing ability.
Zoey studies at Everfall Academy in a prestigious college for students with noble talents – they can heal, control plant magic, or are talented fighters. But when Zoey sees the death of a student at the Everfall Academy ball before it happens, her life is turned upside down. Zoey is a banshee, a fairy of death, and she must come to terms with this fact. She moves to another college, inhabited mainly by beings with dark abilities related to death. She also gets a new timetable. Helping her with her studies and mastering her new magic is Dylan Dae Park, a Reaper, whom everyone else prefers to avoid.
The death of the boy, Finn, which she saw at the ball, is constantly on Zoey's mind. With her new friends, Kenna and Murphy, she decides to get to the bottom of the mystery. They gradually find more and more clues and discover that someone killed Finn. However, this puts them at the centre of the perpetrator's attention, and their investigation starts to become dangerous. Meanwhile, they also uncover secret, forbidden meetings between some students, where highly suspicious battles are taking place. Dylan is also participating in them, and he is slowly starting to grow on Zoey…
