You can't hide from a fierce enemy even in the shadow of the sun
When spaceships start going missing in the first half of the 22nd century, it seems to be the fault of pirates, colony rebels or the unfathomable depths of space. When they start returning armed with unknown weapons and attacking vessels and space stations, humanity quickly discovers that it has been at war for months, a war of which it had no idea.
The mysterious Corsairs attack without warning, never attempt contact, and at the slightest risk of their ship being boarded, they trigger total self-destruct. People have been fighting them for almost a decade, but no one has ever seen a live Corsair except for the kidnapped crews. The ruthless enemy is as much a mystery as it was at the beginning of the war.
The UTSS Salamis was to be the first ship to board a corsair vessel and get answers to the most pressing questions about the mysterious adversary. Instead, she narrowly escapes the lost battle and now hides in the upper corona of the red giant Gamma Crucis, where only an experimental protective shield protects her from the blazing inferno.
Salamis should have been safe in the shadow of the sun, but as the discovery of the murdered technician's body soon proves, the Corsairs are much closer than any of the crew thought...
