In 1412, in the Bethlehem Chapel, thousands of Prague citizens listen to the sermons of the master Jan Hus, who openly denounces the evil and iniquity in the Church. The chapel also houses Queen Žofie, the wife of the Czech King Václav IV. His sermons are a thorn in the side of many. Pope John XXIII. proclaims the heaviest ecclesiastical curse on Huss and on Prague as long as Huss is present. Huss then retreats to Kozí Hrádek, where he continues to expand his teaching. The Pope sends a message to Wenceslas IV. and demands that Hus be brought before the Council of Constance.
