Julius Zeyer

It is 1891 and the Prague Provincial Exhibition enjoys enthusiastic attention. It is attended by celebrities of patriotic life. Julius Zeyer was living in voluntary exile in Vodnany at the time. But fate and his friends expose him to new challenges. Fate takes the form of Madame Kershaw, a lady he befriended while working as a tutor in Russia. It is indicative of how the relationship between them turned out that Madame Kershow was supposed to be a prefigurement of the demonic character Dragopulos from the novel Jan Maria Pojhar. Now she is in the Czech Republic and longs to visit Zeyer, even though she knows how painful such a meeting can be for both of them?
