Killing
Zabíjení audiobook, written by Engelbert Prim, narrated by Martin Zahálka, directed by Miloš Vrána.
Boží mlýn s turbem #3
From the dark clouds that had been gathering over humanity for years, lightning has finally struck. Most of the world's population has succumbed to a deadly virus. The civilisation, writhing in agony, was finished off by an extraordinarily powerful series of electromagnetic pulses. Most electronics were irretrievably destroyed. State structures, police forces, and armies all fell apart. The world as we knew it ceased to exist.
Twenty-two years after these events, a lone man returns to life and discovers that he is not so alone after all. He suddenly finds himself among friends. He may have defeated death, but he would be just as lost without them, even though something is happening to his body and it is healing with remarkable speed. However, not everything is rosy. A war is smouldering just over the horizon, one that will be damned hard not to lose, let alone win.
A gritty science fiction novel from the bleak era of humanity's twilight, where there are never enough knives and where man's best friend is no longer a dog, but a reliable, well-oiled shooter. And because weapons are dangerous toys, a drop of blood is occasionally spilt.
You won't like this vision of the near future.
And if you do, you're weird.
ENGELBERT PRIM
He had been writing for the drawer since he was a child, although back then it was a little briefcase with a teddy bear on it. His first literary endeavour was probably a letter to a comrade from a partner school, in which he described what he did during the holidays. He made it all up, down to the last letter. After receiving his grandfather's Mercedes portable typewriter, he learned to type on it with two fingers. When he began his compulsory military service, his themes naturally turned to what he would have been doing if he hadn't started his compulsory military service. However, the friends he lent his manuscripts to did not understand their depth and mission and regarded them purely as erotic literature.
After the army, still with the desire to write, he continued his literary attempts from time to time, but without a proper subject, he was still just writing for the drawer.
The first rough outlines of the fearless hero nicknamed Boží mlýn s turbem and the still-vague lines of his unusual story began to form on the inside of Elgelbert's skull one rainy night, when thunder rolled, lightning criss-crossed the sky, and it was not at all difficult to imagine that the apocalypse was coming.
