Book by an undefeated fighter and independent martial arts teacher
Miyamoto Musashi was an independent samurai who built his career as a never-beaten fighter and independent martial arts teacher. He was born in medieval Japan, eager to heal the wounds of more than four centuries of internal conflict. Musashi, born in poverty, brought up fighting for his bare life and eventually subjected to the transition to a peaceful establishment, unprecedented in history, resigned to a personal life, in order to embody and pass on the basic elements of the old martial and strategic traditions. Keep your inner calm and clear mind even in a totally chaotic situation.
The Book of the Five Circles, whose more correct translation would be The Book of the Five Spheres, was written by Musashi in 1643 and is devoted to the art of war from a purely pragmatic perspective. Musashi rejects the superficial showmanship and commercialization of martial arts, instead focusing on the psychological and physical issues of the killing blow and decisive victory, which he sees as the foundation of fighting.
This audiobook is thus not only a manual of samurai sword fighting techniques by an invincible swordsman, but a philosophical treatise on Eastern culture, which is in most ways incomprehensible to us Europeans.
The life of Yagyu Munenori differs significantly from that of Miyamoto Musashi, although both men were professional fighters. Thus, we have published not only this book as an audiobook, but also The Book of Family Traditions of the Art of War, including a bundle of both audiobooks.
