Music that was banned before '89.
Music that became a symbol of 1989.
A singer and an album of extraordinary quality and dramatic fate.
A reissue of Marta Kubišová's 1969 debut album.
This brilliant singer and courageous woman, as well as this collection of eleven excellent recordings, were heavily influenced by the circumstances of the time. The beginning of the Normalisation period brought many obstacles to its creation. A repress of the sold-out LP led to partial changes in its content and cover, followed by a complete ban on performing, recording, and releasing. It took twenty years before this album was allowed to reappear.
This reissue is based on the original version, enhanced with expanded printed materials and remastering.
The new LP is pressed on heavyweight vinyl, which promises maximum sound quality. In the LP sleeve and CD booklet, you will find an interesting summary of contemporary materials and reviews, an editorial note from 1996, and, for the very first time, the complete lyrics for all the songs.
If excellent songs can be described as iconic, then these tracks and ballads certainly belong in that category. The new packaging for both formats, while respecting the original design, evokes important memories.
