Major Dundee - Blu-ray

The story of the film, whose attributes fall into the so-called films about cavalry (a subgenre of westerns, famous for the author of The Assault or Rio Grande), gathered the flowering of the then harsh Hollywood men (Charlton Heston, James Coburn, Warren Oates or Ben Johnson).

It takes place during the North-South War and describes the self-proclaimed expedition of the commander of a military prison and his strange gang, composed of Confederate prisoners, horse thieves and dark-skinned soldiers. However, the attempt to punish the group of Apaches who murdered the white settlers and abducted their children turns into Major Dundee' s private war, the cloaking of blood and alcohol wading toward the retreating goal of his mission.

Sam Peckinpah' s first high-budget film also became the first film to be released in an abridged version without the author' s knowledge. Now, forty years later, most of the missing footage has been discovered and restored. The soundtrack was remixed to 5.1 Dolby Digital and supplemented with new music.
