Melody Gardot: My One And Only Thrill (2009) - CD

Melody Gardot is still unknown besides Britain, but critics hail it as one of the greatest discoveries of recent years. Melody mixes pleasant blues, gospel, soul, eclectic folk, jazz and Latin rhythms with the influences of Billie Holiday and Elly Fitzgerald. Melody brilliantly uses his beautiful, charming voice and plays guitar and piano. A truly unique modern album!

A Philadelphia girl aptly named Melody continues what she hinted at in last year' s long-running debut Worrisome Heart. In the song pop / jazz easy listening, as cut from the songbook Diana Krall or Madeleine Peyroux. After all, the production was taken care of by Larry Klein, in addition to his many years of work for Joni Mitchell, who is known for supervising Madeleine Peyroux' s recordings.

A light Latin breeze blows the plate in places. Not surprisingly, Melody names not only Miles Davis or George Gershwin, but also Caetano Velos among his favorite musicians and composers. The singer, pianist and guitarist is no stranger to dixie blues (Your Heart Is As Black As Night). However, she did almost without cover versions and standards on the album.

She only edited the film perennial Over The Rainbow, but in an untraditionally accelerated, Latinized version. Although the songs often look like cuts from ancient times, Melody writes them herself. Guitarist Jesse Harris, famous for her co-authorship and playing with another Melody' s genre colleague Norah Jones, helped her complete just two songs.

Since she was picked up by a car at nineteen, Melody (* 1985) has been walking the world with a wand. He only got to music through music therapy after the crash! It is not just a phrase that such a result of music therapy can heal others. At least from neuroses.
