Mute Witness

An Agatha Christie mystery with Hercule Poirot.

Miss Emily Arundell's favorite way to spend her peaceful old age was with her four-legged friend Bob. She enjoyed good health and certainly did not suffer financially - she inherited a huge fortune. Her relatives, on the other hand, desperately needed the money, but they were not going to support her aunt in any way. But then the "accident" occurred and a wealthy lady in her old age became suspicious, which she confided to Hercule Poirot.

Her letter caught the detective's attention. He received dozens of similar letters from neurotic unmarried women, but this one caught his eye because it was written on 17 April, whereas the post office did not deliver it until 28 June. He immediately decided to take action and went to the address, but found that the house was for sale because the owner was dead. How will he get along with the strange Crown witness in the investigation into her supposedly natural death?

The novel was the basis for the fourth episode of the sixth Poirot television series, in which the famous Belgian detective was portrayed by the charming David Suchet.
