Naima: Naima - CD

The Naima Quartet was one of the greatest discoveries of Czech jazz in the 1980s. Pianist Zdeněk Zdeněk, saxophonist František Kop, double bassist Jaromír Honzák and drummer Martin Šulc combined instrumental mastery with musical individuality.

Vojtěch Hueber stated in the review for Melodia: “ What Naima is showing off with her long-playing business card is more than respectable. In six compositions by the extraordinarily talented Zdeněk Zdeněk, of which Jaromír Honzák also added an interesting arco-motif of the introduction to the author, the inventive charge and individuality of the creative manuscript directly sparkles. Both in terms of the melodic power of individual themes and in terms of the formal side of their compositional representations and the way of working with harmonic procedures - every time the listener will find something that must fall hopelessly.. ”

The recording from 1985 is now being released for the first time on a compact disc, supplemented by three other songs from that time.
