Neckář Václav: Between Your Own - CD

Two years after his highly successful comeback album Good Times, Václav Neckář will delight his fans with his first ever Christmas album. However, these are not classic carols or Christmas standards recorded thousands of times. The new album with the prosaic title Among My Own, created in the SONO and Gui-Tón studios, contains purely original material! Much of its character is suggested by the very fact that it was written by a very diverse range of top Czech musicians.

"According to the title of the album, you would expect that there would be only my court authors, such as Eda Krečmar or my brother Honza. Unfortunately, Zdeněk Rytíř didn't manage to write any more songs, but Alenka Rytířová, Zdeněk's daughter, wrote one of the lyrics for me. Honza Fischer, son of Ivo Fischer, wrote two texts; Václav Kopta, the son of Pavel Kopta, also has two, and so I am still among my own, although I am meeting them for the first time as authors," says Václav Neckář about the selection of authors.

Václav's musical family has grown by another generation in the last three years thanks to Dobrý časům, so in addition to the above mentioned, previously unexpected personalities appear on the album as authors. The proof are names like Jiří Hradil (Tata Bojs, Forest animals), Márdi (FiXa), Filip Rácz (Fíha), David Dvořák (The Nutcracker), Marek Doubrava(Hm. ), Petr Kotouš or Luděk Špilauer. And not to make the premieres too few, there is Neckář's first ever duet with Marta Kubišová in the form of the very emotional song Night.

Of course, the duo Jaromír Švejdík and Dušan Neuwerth, the duo behind the album Dobrý časy (Good Times), are also present on Mezi svými. Švejdík as lyricist and composer, Neuwerth as producer.

Although the leitmotif of the album is the theme of Christmas, it is certainly not the only theme. On the contrary! Among My Own is a record with many strong overlaps into "ordinary" interpersonal relationships, loneliness, faith and hope.

Finally a Christmas album without pathos, full of faith and hope!
